Even with good brushing and flossing habits, teeth can sometimes hurt without warning. It is uncomfortable, but rarely dangerous — and as a rule there is something you can do yourself while you wait for an appointment.

For mild discomfort

Start calmly. Gently clean between your teeth with dental floss and rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Often it is a small piece of food debris or an irritated gum causing the trouble, which will resolve on its own.

If the discomfort persists, an ordinary over-the-counter painkiller can help you through the day. Follow the instructions on the packaging, and if in doubt, ask at the pharmacy or call us.

When to call us

If the pain becomes severe, is throbbing, or if you have knocked a tooth loose or out, call us on +45 39 63 98 20. We will find an emergency appointment for you — you should never have to endure pain for several days.

If it happens in the evening or at the weekend, you can contact the Emergency Dental Service in Copenhagen at Oslo Plads 14 near Østerport Station, telephone +45 70 25 00 41. You will be in safe hands until we can see you.
