Even with good brushing and flossing habits, teeth can sometimes hurt without warning. It is uncomfortable, but rarely dangerous — and as a rule there is something you can do yourself while you wait for an appointment.
For mild discomfort
Start calmly. Gently clean between your teeth with dental floss and rinse your mouth with lukewarm water. Often it is a small piece of food debris or an irritated gum causing the trouble, which will resolve on its own.
If the discomfort persists, an ordinary over-the-counter painkiller can help you through the day. Follow the instructions on the packaging, and if in doubt, ask at the pharmacy or call us.
