General Anaesthesia

For most people, ordinary local anaesthesia is more than sufficient. But if you experience severe dental anxiety, or an extensive procedure is required, treatment under general anaesthesia may be the solution that allows you to move forward in comfort. It is rarely necessary, but for some it is a great reassurance.

A safe and comfortable process

We always begin with a thorough examination and a comprehensive treatment plan, so that all the necessary work can be completed while you sleep. An anaesthetist will gather your health information in advance and will take care of you throughout the entire process. Since it is not possible to communicate during the procedure, we discuss everything with you beforehand.

Before and after

You should avoid eating solid food in the hours leading up to the treatment, but you may drink a small amount of water until shortly before. Afterwards, the effects of the anaesthesia wear off quickly. You will need someone to accompany you home, and it is reassuring to have someone with you for the first day. We will not send you on your way until we are confident it is safe to do so.
