Periodontitis is also known as the disease of loose teeth. It is caused by bacteria that make the gums recede and the bone surrounding the teeth diminish — often slowly and without pain, until the teeth begin to loosen. Anyone can develop it, and it can be challenging to treat. But we can help you bring it under control.
How we work
Treatment is a collaboration between you, the dentist, and the dental hygienist. We clean the gum pockets thoroughly and gently using ultrasound, and for deep pockets a minor surgical procedure may be necessary. In severe cases, we supplement treatment with medication.
Daily care is the most important factor
The biggest difference is made by your daily home care routine. We show you the correct brushing technique and the use of interdental brushes, so you can keep inflammation at bay between visits. We then monitor your teeth closely, so we can act immediately if the disease shows signs of returning.

FAQ
Can periodontitis be cured?
The disease cannot be completely reversed, but it can be halted and kept under control. With treatment and good daily care, you can keep your teeth for a long time.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients find it mild. We work gently and administer local anaesthetic where needed, so you remain comfortable throughout the entire process.
