Acid Erosion

Acid erosion occurs when acid from food and drink gradually dissolves the mineral content of tooth enamel. Where the acid comes from

• Fizzy drinks, cola, squash, and fruit juice with high acid content

How to protect your teeth

• Drink acidic beverages quickly or through a straw, and avoid swishing them around your mouth
• Choose water, milk, tea, or coffee between meals
• Rinse your mouth with water after something acidic
• Wait a little before brushing, and use a soft-bristled toothbrush with a gentle toothpaste
