Dental Implant
When a tooth is missing, an implant can restore your bite and your smile — without touching the neighbouring teeth.

An implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium, which we position in the place where your tooth was missing. We later attach a crown to the root — and the result is a tooth that sits firmly, functions fully, and looks just like your own. The technique has been used and refined since the 1970s and is today one of the most predictable treatments we offer.
How it works
We divide the process into calm stages, giving each phase the time it needs.
- Placement. Under local anaesthesia we position the implant in the jawbone. It is a minor procedure — most patients are surprised by how straightforward it is.
- Healing. Over two to six months the bone grows around and fuses with the implant. It is this anchoring that makes the solution so durable.
- The crown. Once the implant is secure, we fabricate the final crown and attach it. Only then is the tooth truly yours again.
Why an implant
Unlike a bridge, where we would need to prepare the neighbouring teeth, the implant stands entirely on its own. If the neighbouring teeth are healthy, they get to stay that way. Research shows that around 90–95% of implants are still functioning after ten years — provided they are properly cared for.
Looking after it
An implant cannot develop cavities, but the gum tissue around it needs to be kept clean. We will show you how to make this simple in everyday life, and we monitor the foundation at your check-ups — so your new tooth lasts for years to come.

Questions & answers
FAQ
Does getting an implant hurt?
The placement itself is carried out under local anaesthesia, and most patients find it less uncomfortable than they expected. Afterwards there may be some tenderness for a couple of days, which ordinary pain relief will manage.
How long does the whole process take?
From placement to the finished crown typically takes two to six months. Most of that time is simply waiting while the implant bonds with the bone — you will have a temporary solution in the meantime.
